Reflections and longing
I yearned to be the one, yet fell short,
Neither the hero nor the consort.
What was my role, where did I stand,
In this intricate dance, unplanned?
I craved to be your guiding light,
But darkness enveloped, an endless night.
Longing for peace, I found despair,
A shattered dream, beyond repair.
In the tapestry of our shared desire,
I sought warmth, but found cold fire.
Yearning for love's eternal embrace,
Left stranded in a barren space.
Do I deserve this bitter fate,
Justified by love's cruel debate?
Wishing to hold your hand in mine,
Yet strangers now, lost in time.
Once bound by love's fervent tether,
Now consumed by hatred's bitter weather.
Do you welcome this animosity's sting,
Or mourn the loss of what could have been?
In the wake of shattered dreams,
Aching hearts, silent screams.
Fading slowly, bit by bit,
In the agony of love's bitter split.
